Sharpen Like a Pro, Part I, with Jeff Zens 18-1

In this new and re-designed sharpening clinic, professional woodworker and Next Level author and instructor Jeff Zens will guide you through the essential steps to achieving a razor-sharp edge on your chisels and hand planes.  Knowing how and when to sharpen your cutting tools is a gateway skill, a “must have” for every woodworker who aspires to fine work.  Working with sharp tools is a revelation: once you experience the safety and effectiveness of a sharp hand plane or chisel you will never look back.  Advertisements to the contrary, tools do not come to you sharp and ready to use right out of the box.  No matter where they come from, a new cutting edge can always be improved.

Now you can achieve the same results that the Guild’s Next Level students obtain, without committing to the entire NL series.  In this day-long, hands-on session, Jeff will walk you through the theory behind creating a keen edge on your cutting tools. You will quickly move beyond theory and put each of the sharpening steps into practice.  At the end of this hands-on workshop, most students will go home with at least one tool ready to work.  More importantly, you’ll have the knowledge necessary to get all of your edges into top condition and keep them working for you.

This workshop is fast-paced and intense; be ready to go to work.  Bring your sharpening questions - there is always time for interesting discussion.

A tool list will be sent to students upon registration.  Achieving success in this class requires that students be properly equipped, and some necessary class items might have a longer lead time.  Early registration is a good idea, because this workshop always sells out: don’t delay!
