Instructor: Asa Christiana

If you can’t get your chisels and hand planes truly sharp, you’ll never experience the true joy of using them. In this one-day workshop, you’ll learn a guaranteed way to do just that, using sandpaper, waterstones, and a basic honing guide. As a bonus, you’ll build a simple jig for holding the stones and setting up the guide. Pass through the sharpening gateway and enter hand-tool heaven.

List of tools/materials/supplies provided by Guild:

—Guild will supply PSA sandpaper (grits 80 through 220).

—Guild will supply squares of 3/4-in. Russian birch plywood and hardwood strips for honing-guide setup jig.

—Instructor will provide sample honing-guide setup jig

—Instructor will provide flat countertop material as a base for PSA sandpaper.

—Instructor will bring camelia oil to demo how to protect freshly sharpened tools
