Deep router cut

I'm making a hollowed out box with a core box bit.  I'd like to go about 3/4" deeper than my setup allows.  I'm using a 1/4" shank bit in a trim router with plunge base.

I can't find a deep cut/long reach core box bit with anything larger than 1/2" diameter,  I'd prefer 1".

I found collet extensions online, but many reviews of the 1/4" ones report they bent on the 1st use with horrifying results.

I'm guessing the "correct" way to do this is with a 1/2" collet extension on a larger router, but I'd love to hear any alternatives.

    Thanks in advance!

I suggest a Forsner bit in the drill press to go deeper, but you still have the problem of rounding the bottom edge and/or flattening the bottom.

We used to have a bit extender in the router bit drawer in the shop. Unless someone took it, it should still be there, most likely way in the back. I'm pretty sure it was this one from Infinity Tools.

Thanks David, I'll head into the shop and see if I can find it and a 1/2" shaft core bit.
