Local Community Projects |
Local Community ProjectsThe Guild performs a number of community projects each year. Organizations may contact the Guild requesting assistance in building some type of furniture. Members donate their time to create the items requested. It's a great way to learn more about woodworking, get to know your fellow members, and help some local charitable organizations. A major function of Guild life is teaching others how to do woodworking. This occurs in many ways, one of which is to use member volunteers to build items for deserving recipients. Projects are done only for non-profit organizations. The customer pays for the material and the Guild donates the labor. All requests are submitted to the, board of directors for approval. Community Projects are coordinated by the Community Projects Chair, a member of the board. A volunteer is sought to run the project. From that point on the leader and other members work with the customer to design, build and install the project. The program has been a beautiful merging of teaching, learning and friendships, of skilled artists working in wood alongside beginners, and of the Guild helping to enrich the community. The result is many beautiful projects completed and displayed throughout the area.. Please contact the team leader with opportunities. |
