The Guild of Oregon Woodworker’s Library is full of educational and reference materials on woodworking. It is housed at the Guild shop and contains 700+ books, 100+ DVDs, 60+ plans, and some magazines. Hand tools, machines, furniture, cabinetry, carving, toys, construction, turning, intarsia and more are included.

Finding a good book

Go to the shop and find the library in the Studio across the parking lot from the Shop.  You may also click on the link above to browse Guild library holdings. 

• To search titles or authors, select columns B and C, then select “Edit” (upper left under title) and then “Find and replace”.
• Type in a key word and then click “Find” again and again until all have been located.
• “Sheet 1” (labelled at bottom left) lists materials in shelving order -- Library of Congress numbers for books.  “Sheet 2” is ordered by category in column G and is a good way to find things like “Hand tools”, “Boxes”, or “American” furniture.
• Users with Administrative privileges please be careful not to accidentally edit the spreadsheet.

Checkout

Any Guild member in good standing may check out titles from the Guild library.  The process is as follows:

• Write your name and the current date on the checkout card, which is usually inside DVD holders or inside the back cover of books.  Place the card in the box on the desk in the library. File it under your last name to help find it when you return the material.
• Material may be checked out for two months. Please limit checkouts to 10 items. Please return items in a timely manner.
• On returning books, replace the checkout card back in the book and find its home on the shelf. Helpful hints for reshelving books are posted on a bookcase door in the library.
• Members are responsible for replacement of lost or damaged items.  Please contact the librarian.

Suggesting New Titles

Suggestions are welcome.  Please contact the librarian with the title, author, and publisher. Titles are added based on requests and a review of existing Library holdings.

Donation of Materials

Please contact the librarian about donations. Books and DVDs are welcomed. If we already have copies in the library, the donated materials are offered to members for sale or free. Magazine donations are not accepted at this time for the library.
