Daddy had a ShopSmith and I was in lust. I was too young to use it, but whenever he did, I was there soaking up the sawdust. He died when I was still young and I went on to work in computer design and marketing. When I got my first home, I immediately converted the garage into a Woodshop and have been a self-taught woodworker ever since. When I retired in 2010, I put up a website, figuring that if I sold something, I could get some more tools. It turned into a second career. I plan to continue making a few boards a month until the drag my carcass from the shop.
