Jointer and Planer Skills

Instructor -  Dennis Dolph

Note: Completion of the Safety & Orientation (S&O) meeting is required before taking this class. Please do not register for the waitlist, either, unless you've completed the S&O.

This class is designed to help you with Shop Card Certification on these machines.

The Jointer and the Surface Planer work in concert to make our boards straight, smooth, and square. If you are not confident in your mastery of these machines, then this is the class for you. We will discuss best practice for each operation, you will see it demonstrated, and then you will have the opportunity to perform the procedure yourself, hands on. By the end of the class, you should feel comfortable that you can operate both of these machines safely. Materials will be provided.

A Shop Attendant needs to be an intermediate woodworker and is expected to work at least one shift a month, plus attend the monthly SA meeting.

If a member needs a refresher on a certain group of machines, they can sit in on a class for free, provided they have previously taken the class.

Please contact Doug Drake at doug.drake@guildoforegonwoodworkers.org with questions.

Please register online and remit payment at once. Thank you
