SHOP ATTENDANT ADVANCED TOOL CERTIFICATION: Multi-Router

Instructor - Mark Klein

General Description (include goals, objectives & deliverables; describe prerequisites & audience skill levelexpectations - can use “Key Points” list) The Multi-Router is a mortise & tenon machine for commercial or heavy-duty production of almost any solid-wood joint imaginable. Using the Multi-Router will increase productivity and efficiency dramatically. With a Multi-Router in the shop you will also produce top-notch joinery - angled joinery, box joints, dovetails, mortise and tenons all fitting together with precision. This is an Advanced Tool with the Guild and is the most effective when completing multiple joints with the same or similar setup. This is a step by step guide to use the JDS multi-router to build a mortise and tenon joint.

Please bring your own PPE - eye, ear and lung protection. This is especially important as the Multi-Router is a very dusty machine.

Multnomah County is instituting a mask requirement again and the Guild is following suit. The county expects the requirement to be in place through the end of the year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are implementing additional safety requirements for those using the shop. Before you arrive for your scheduled session, please ensure the following:

  • You are in good health, not living with anyone who is ill, have not been exposed to anyone with COVID-19 in the last 14 days
  • You have a face covering without an exhaust valve. This must cover your nose, mouth, and chin and is to be worn at all times. The Guild does have some for sale at the shop but we recommend you bring your own.
  • You are willing to abide by the requirements.
