This program is on Zoom only

Scot Lang will show how to make a knife from a common jig saw blade, and Jim Bergeron will moderate his video about making an adze from an old file.  These topics will open your eyes about taking control of your own tools and their handles, an empowering step for beginners and experienced alike.

Scot has been carving for decades.  He has broad interests and making knives is just one. He has been president of the Central Coast Woodcarvers club near Morro Bay, California 20 years and has seen and experienced a lot.  Learn about knife making; pick his brain.

Jim Bergeron lives near Astoria and has been carving in the tradition of the NW Coast for over 40 years.  He loves making his own tools and has documented how everyone can make their own adze.  You might not need an adze now, but you will likely find the process fascinating.  We will show his 40 minute video of the process along with background information.  He and his daughter Rosie will be here to answer questions and show examples of his work.

If you attend in person you have to have proof of vaccination either on record at the Guild of Oregon Woodworkers, or show proof when you arrive (it's their policy).

Please register to get the Zoom link and so we can notify you of any changes.
