Green Woodworking Workshop
Instructor: Ryan Carpenter
Workshop Overview
If you have ever been interested in an introduction to woodworking, this is a great workshop for you! There are few things more gratifying than being able to turn a fresh-cut tree into a piece of furniture in a few days. This will be a workshop where we will collaboratively explore the art of green woodworking and expose participants to various techniques needed to create strong, comfortable and lightweight chairs that will endure for generations to come, with demonstrations on other techniques depending on individual interest. Participants in the workshop will leave having completed a simple rustic stool.
About Ryan:
Ryan Carpenter is a manufacturing engineer by day and furniture maker and boat builder by night. He minored in fine art with a focus on sculpture and has spent the past decades exploring different woodworking techniques to bring sculptural elements into functional items. He employs a hybrid approach to use machinery where it can deliver efficiency and traditional hand tools where their flexibility can enhance the final piece.
