Wooden Puzzle Demo
Presenter: Tom Burnett
There is a long history of woodworkers using their craft to build wooden puzzles to challenge their skills and their friend’s and family's patience and persistence in solving the puzzles. My history is a lot shorter in that only last December I acquired a book about building wooden puzzles. Since then I have been building puzzles, fortunately with increasing skill, giving them to family and friends and even selling a few. The joy in this is three fold: holding in your hand a piece of work that you know is built with care and precision; watching others struggle to solve the assembly or even disassembly of the puzzles’ pieces; and sharing the joy of the person who finally solves the puzzle.
Whether you are new to woodworking and want to learn some skills or a long time woodworker with a shop full of wood scraps you don’t know what to do with. I invite you to join me in puzzle creation. I will share with you what I have learned about building jigs to attain the precision needed to make wooden puzzles look and feel good and work with the smoothness of a well crafted puzzle.
If you are interested in coming to a show-and-tell on wooden puzzles, sign-up for this evening in January where Tom will share his experience.
