Dear Guild Members,
Carbide Saw is a Guild sponsor. I am lucky that they are located down the block from where I live. Well, actually 30 short blocks. It's close and a great resource for saw blades, router bits, and almost any sharpening you may need.
Last week I found out that Tad, one of the owners, had a stroke about a year and a half ago. Carmen, his wife, is doing a great job running the business and whoever is doing their sharpening is pretty darn good. I just ordered a new band saw blade and their turnaround was one day and a recent order of a router bit also only took a day.
I asked Carmen if I could let the Guild know about Tad and she said it was fine. He is slowly recovering and doing better. However, he does not have the use of one of his arms. He is able to take short walks and continues to slowly recover.
If you have anything that needs sharpening, even kitchen knives, please consider using their services. It would really help Tad and Carmen out. They have an excellent selection of bandsaw blades and which can be cut/welded to any length you need. I have several of their FS Tool blades and a dado set for my miter saw and table saw.
They’re good people. Help them out if you can and say hi to Carmen. Check their hours on Friday as I think they close around noon.
Thanks,
Mark Sherman
