For general use that you want to keep on as much as possible, I'd suggest an 3/8" or 1/2" (if you will be cutting raw/green wood or larger items or rewawing ).  4 tpi will cut fast and easily sand out any roughness.  I look at 1/4" and high tpi blades more as a speciality purpose blade where you are doing fine work or tight curves.

Hi mark, I would lean towards a 4tpi blade for general use. It won’t leave as clean of a cut, but you’ll be able to cut much quicker than with a higher tooth count blade.

Sorry, the word tip should have been TPI - teeth per inch.

I just got a new Rikon 14 in bandsaw and was going to get a 1/4 blade. I can get 4, 6, 8, 10, and I think 14 tip. Any suggestions? I will be using it as a general purpose blade on wood less than 2 inches thick. It also comes with a 5/8ths inch 4 tpi blade.

    Any other blade recommendations?

    Thanks,

    Mark
