Glad to hear you found a solution!

For future reference, I think you either need to 'subscribe' to the thread or have notifications turned on for when new posts are made in the 'woodworking topics' forum.

Thanks! I thought I’d get an email notification if someone responded so sorry for the late reply!

Turns out my brother in law has got a sander I can borrow!

Not sure what the shop would allow or not, but you’d be welcome to use the sanders in my shop if you’d like. I’m about a 35-40 minute drive from the guild shop in Scappoose.

I'm making a knife using a kit I bought at Woodcraft. I've already got the scales epoxied onto the tang and roughly cut. Now, I need to shape them using a belt sander. There also brass bins sticking out a little that need be sanded down.

Would I be allowed to shape them and sand down the pins at the guild? I'm a relatively new member and I know embedded metal in wood isn't allowed and epoxy could also be a problem so I want to be sure I'm following the rules and being safe at the guild.

If I can't do this at the guild, I may try a dremel and am also considering purchasing my own small benchtop belt sander.

    Thanks!
