Thanks everybody. I went out to BMR over the weekend at purchased some Alaska Yellow Cedar. Price was pretty good.
I will add one to the mix. Custom Cedar Products up in (almost) Greshem has some nice looking clear cedar 2x material. The sell by the piece, but usually have 4’ 6’ and 8’ pieces. they are primarily a fencing company, (they mill their own pickets) but have really nice looking clear and good pricing as well.
Thanks for the info. It sounds like a couple of field trips are in order.
Lakeside Lumber in Tualatin, can be expensive and are geared toward the contractor but their wood can be flawless.
Hardwood Industries. Hardwood Industries is a Guild sponsor. Even though they say 'hardwood' sometimes they have cedar dimensional lumber.
Building Material Resources https://www.materialforless.com/ in Sherwood. They are kind of a thrift store for builders. They often have cedar. I bought a bunch of 2x2 clear Alaskan Yellow for a sauna bench and floor.
With Lakeside you order and get what you get. You can return the unused portions. With HI and BMR you can hand pick each piece.
Depending on the circumstances, (quantity, quality, price,) I have purchased a fair amount of cedar from all three.
I want to make a set of patio furniture and I would need some 2x4’s and 4x4’s along with some decking planks. Where is a good place to get some nicer quality lumber? I would be open to milling rough sawn timber as long as it was kiln dried.
I’m going down to the place that sells milled juniper and if my wife likes the look of that I may go that route.
