I’m still unsure if we need to fab some more desks or hold off pending paperwork completion and additional demand?

Does anybody have any thoughts about using 1/4 inch ApplePly for the splines?

I have three frames ready for splines.

I’m out of walnut and I have some of the ApplePly.   It fits the slots I’m cutting on a router table with a 1/4 inch bit.   

I’m going to dry fit a few and see what they look like.

At last Monday's team meeting Lee mentioned some jigs he had for radiusing sheet goods corners on a router table.   I bought some and they work great for that. 

I doubt if I"m the first one to do this,  but I came up with a shop made jig that uses these fixtures to radius the end of the table legs.   Between the clamps and a strip of double sided tape it works pretty well.

The first batch of 14 student lap desks were delivered to the students yesterday. Good reviews so far from parents and students. 15 more in the pipeline for next week.

We will discussing whether we even need screws at the design meeting tomorrow. We 51 square inches of glue surface connecting the apron to the tops. I would like to see some evidence of that being  the weakest point in the construction before we add any screws.  I would hate to see screws in the work surface of these desks.

Dennis will be back in the Guild shop on Wednesday afternoon doing some more milling. He had 15 set of parts milled up and in the annex on Friday afternoon. I am going to drop off come completed desks and  pick up some kits myself to start another round of desks on Wednesday.
