Thanks Ken - I'll keep my eye on that side of the shop and on the calendar for the next certification class.

At this point, the sliding table saw is broken and the part must be remade by a machinist because the manufacturer is no longer in business and parts are not available. Luckily the broken part (which keeps  the long arm in place) is a block of aluminum that can be rebuilt. No eta is known for the new part, so be patient.

Also, you must be trained on this machine in one of the Guild classes for that purpose.

    Hi Chad,

Welcome to the Guild. I am the registrar and part of the Education Team.

Contact Ken Hall ken.hall@guildoforegonwoodworkers.org  or  Aboo Balgamwalla aboo@redlandlab.com . They head up the shop operations committee and should be able to answer that question.

I need the answer, as well, because we do require that members become certified to use the sliding table saw before using it. We regularly post that class so please keep an eye on the weekly event page that we send out on Mondays.

    Kindly,

    Hi -

I just joined the Guild and I have a project in mind that would probably be best executed using the sliding panel saw.  During the Intro to Guild class, I heard that it might be going away.  Does anyone here have any other info on this?  If this is the case, I'd like to get certified and use the saw before it gets sold or mothballed.  IF there's someone I should contact with this question, let me know - i didn't see an obvious choice for this type of request on the Contact page.

    Thanks,

    Chad
